Infrared Rays And Their Potential To Cause Cancer

The sun is made up of three types of radiation. Visible light, infrared, and Ultra Violet. Visible light is what makes the colors we see in the sun, infrared light is the heat we feel. Except in very extreme cases, neither visible nor infrared light will cause cancer.

How the Immune System Works

The immune system is an intricate and complicated system in our body. Basically, however, the job of this system is to protect the body from invasion by bacteria, viruses, toxins and other foreign substances that our bodies don’t need and can prove to be harmful to the body and its organs.

When these foreign substances enter our bodies the immune system sends out white blood cells to fight the objects and prevent them from harming us. Cancer is caused by a normal cell mutating into an abnormal cell that cell then reproduces itself and other abnormal cells are formed. A healthy immune system keeps these mutated cells from multiplying and doing any real damage but, once the immune system is not longer strong it cannot fight these cells effectively and they begin to grow at an alarming rate. So, in order to prevent cancer or to help the body fight cancer you need to keep the immune system strong so it is able to do its job.

That is where an infrared sauna helps. It helps to rid the body of some of the toxins that weaken the immune system and may actually help to destroy cancer cells as well.

How An Infrared Sauna Helps The Immune System To Fight Cancer

Our bodies take in toxins through the air we breathe, the food we eat, the cloths we wear, the ground we walk on and even from some of the medicines we take to stay healthy. So while the sun’s Ultra Violet rays may damage your skin and actually cause cancer, its healing infrared rays when used in an infrared sauna that filters out the UV rays may actually help to prevent cancer in some people and help others who have the disease win the battle against cancer.

It’s no secret that the relaxing effects of spending time in a sauna have health benefits. Relaxation by itself is therapeutic. However, with the advent of the far infrared sauna, the health benefits have taken a more prominent position.

This shouldn’t be surprising. Study after study finds new applications for far infrared saunas and new benefits from their use. Among the benefits are detoxification, weight loss and pain relief.

Detoxification. Far infrared waves cause water molecules in the body’s cells to resonate and release toxins, including mercury, aluminum, sulfur and formaldehyde, among others. Because the far infrared waves cause a deeper sweat than can be attained in a conventional sauna, more toxins are carried through the pores and onto the surface of the skin as sweat, removing them.

Many diseases and disorders can be helped through detoxification. A few of these conditions include heart disease, arthritis, allergies, anxiety, depression, headaches, digestive problems and mental illness. Detoxification not only helps relieve symptoms; it also can serve as a preventive by improving the body’s resistance to disease.

Weight loss. Exposure to the warming effects of a far infrared sauna forces the body to find a way to cool itself. This effort increases the heart rate and metabolism, which, in turn, means calories are burned. Studies show that just 30 minutes in a far infrared sauna can burn 200 to 600 calories.

Thyroid health also can be improved by exposure to far infrared waves. Thyroid health is related to weight gain and loss. As you lose weight, your fat tissue releases toxins, such as PCBs and pesticides, that affect the thyroid. With these toxins gone, the thyroid can begin repairing itself.

Pain relief. Some common kinds of pain respond to heat therapy. These heat-responsive pain, or HRP, conditions include lower back, upper body and menstrual pain. Researchers have observed important therapeutic benefits using continuous low-level heat therapy to treat them.

Using heat to treat pain is an old technique. However, until fairly recently, health professionals didn’t realize how important and effective heat can be.

Rheumatoid arthritis, an extremely painful and often debilitating joint condition, offers good examples of the place of heat in pain management. Two examples tell the story.

A 14-year-old girl who had a hard time walking downstairs because of her knee pain underwent just three far infrared sauna treatments before she began to grow more agile. Later, she took up folk dancing. In Japan, whole-body far infrared sauna therapy was used in seven cases of rheumatoid arthritis. All seven patients realized a successful solution.

Far infrared saunas have also shown promise and real results in skin care and other areas. It seems fairly certain that the number of therapeutic uses for the saunas and far infrared light will grow. Time will tell just how many applications this remarkable technology might finally have.
